« Disponible en anglais seulement »
The BETTER program Prevention Practitioner training workshop offers an opportunity for professional development to healthcare professionals working within the primary care setting.
The purpose of the 1.5 day workshop is to provide healthcare professionals with enhanced skills in primary prevention and screening of chronic disease through hands-on training using role playing and patient case examples. The adaptation and implementation of the BETTER approach to enhance existing primary care settings' chronic disease prevention and screening efforts are also discussed.
- Learn about the BETTER approach and tools,
- Understand how a tailored intervention provided by a healthcare professional, the Prevention Practitioner, can help patients and practices reach their chronic disease prevention and screening goals,
- Apply the skills learned and explored, including motivational interviewing and shared decision-making, through a series of patient cases as Prevention Practitioner, and
- Gain the tools needed to determine how the BETTER approach could be integrated into clinical practice.
The Prevention Practitioner training workshops are currently provided on a cost-recovery basis, with each session accommodating up to 12 trainees.
